inspiration

Fri Sep 29, 2006, 6:09 PM
The comments here at DA have been so inspiring. I've started working on a new series of images. Hopefully this weekend I'll have a chance to delve into the creating work. I started last weekend doing some photographing. Now the fun part of this art thing begins.... creating the stirring of my heart. Thanks to all my DA muses.

The winding down of the summer

Fri Sep 1, 2006, 6:08 PM
Wow, it's already Friday. And September! It's been a struggle this week but coming to Da has been refreshing.

The pregnant theme keeps coming back to me. Can't wait to see what will be born :-)

I'm spendng the evening printing some Ilfochrome and checking out some great art here on Da. I must say it is a great way to spend an evening. The storm is raging outside(Ernesto) but there is a peace here where art has the freedom to express itself.

transitions

It seems that life is in a transition. You just have to look around to see that the world is in a kind of birthing process. I think we are getting a little spoiled with genetic testing and ultrasound telling us everything we want to know about the baby in the womb. We expect the same knowledge about the world and how it gives birth. We want to know what will be coming. No surprises. I don't think it works that way.

I see the pregnant expectations in my life. Work and my faith community are changing and my roles are unclear. At work, I have 3 months left to doing a job I have done for almost 20 years. Three months till the birth of the unknown future.... the undiscovered country. But I don't think that means that it's dying or that there is no future. There remains so much potential and hope. Perhaps what is happening is more like the metamorphosis of a butterfly.

Patient waiting and faith must be the hardest part of being in the cocoon.

a new journey

I'm excited to join this community of creatives. In just a few minutes I found some amazing art. Recently, my life has been a struggle to create. Work seems to occupy my energies. I'm looking forward to being fed by this vast community of artists.
